| 内容記述 | This paper is to discuss The Rainbow written by D.H.Lawrence. In Chapter 1, I argue against a Maxisist’s critical essay which points out the lack of history in Lawrence’s apparently historical novel. In Chapter 2 I shed light on a possible feminist reading for The Rainbow especially in the postmodern age. In both chapters "myth"-the Marxist’s very target of criticism-is shown to return, through the private sphere of man-woman relationships, and relativize "modern" framework of telling history. In Chapter 3, I discuss the language characteristics of The Rainbow in relation to what I have clarified in Chapter 1 and 2. | |||||||||
