The study was conducted by analyzing autographed manuscripts written by Fuyu Toyoda, a teacher at the Tokyo Women's Normal School Kindergarten who worked as a translator and lyric writer during the early Hoiku Shoka period. Originally, Hoiku Shoka began as a collection of educational songs for kindergarten instruction. It then started being used for various purposes, such as for Tokyo Women's Normal School students or unspecified audiences at concerts.
