In this research, among other theories, we studied the handwriting education theory by C.Northend from his works such as “The Teacher and Parent” and “The Teacher’s Assistant,” and how this theory was accepted in Japan. As a result, commonalities with the theory of handwriting education in the Edo period, such as attitudes emphasizing handwriting education, were observed.
