To clarify the effect of semantic relations on the amount of interference, the following conditions were presented under the combination of picture and word: same stimulus (SS), same category (SC), different category (DC), and control (C). In the task, participants were required to start to name the pictures when bar markers were presented under the pictures after the time which was decided by response delay intervals (RDIs). As a result of experiments, the following became clear: 1)Semantic interference effect was seen until RDI was 500ms, 2)On the RDI=500ms condition, interference effect was seen only in SC, not in DC condition.
